Marriage : An Inspired Life

Married twenty nine years yesterday, I chanced upon this on social media. Had to share.

He is 85 and insists on taking his wife hand in hand wherever they go.

When I asked why your wife is distracted, like she wasn’t following anyone?

He replied : She has Alzheimer’s.

So I said, will your wife worry if you let her go?

He replied, ′′She doesn’t remember… She doesn’t know who I am anymore, she hasn’t recognized me for years”.

Surprised, I said, ′′and still you continue to guide on the way every day even she doesn’t recognize you”.

The elderly man smiled and looked into my eyes. he said, ′′She doesn’t know who I am, but I know who she is. ” SHE IS THE LOVE OF MY LIFE!”

If only we could all live like this…

  1. Happy 29th anniversary…this is such a good little note to share, my Grandmother has Alzheimer’s and it’s awful. She hasn’t forgotten my Grandfather yet, but she has forgotten me and my mother. One thing that has stuck with me “the brain may forget but the heart does not”

  2. True love brings in strength for relationships to stay rock solid and such an inspiration. In today’s times, I will argue there are so many things we need to take into account and individuality does matter a lot.

My Featured Blogger this week is Kavita Ramial of Sunshiny SA Site, so-named because Kavita lives in sunny South Africa (and is proud of it). Thematically, her posts range far and wide; her About page reads, “Join me in my wanderlust through Life, Love, People, Places.” In fact, the only connecting tissue in her writing seems to be quality: Her posts are always thoughtful, always engaging, always worth the time–quality time. More than enough reason to bask in Kavita’s sunshine!

    • Thank you Mitch for the reblog and the warm words. Words that are really appreciated given the past four harsh months of solid work during lockdown. I hated being away from my blogging family and missed the interaction. Somehow most that I followed were unfollowed… By wordpress and not myself. Distressing. I’m so looking forward to blogging and catching up. Will see you on the other side. I send regards from SA… Magical here tonight. If I stood outside, Id expect Aladdin to swoop in on his magic carpet, and such is our starry sky.
