Nelson Mandela, a civil rights activist, president of South Africa for a lustrum, Nobel Peace Prize and our beloved Tata, Madiba made an impact on South Africa and the world.
Born on the 18th of July 1918, for 67 years of his life, 27 of them imprisoned for his anti-apartheid beliefs and actions, he campaigned for human rights. The United Nations declared his day of birth as Nelson Mandela International Day as a way to honor his legacy.
On this day, we dedicate 67 minutes of our day to “give back” to those in need, and ideally contribute to global humanitarianism.
On his 90th birthday Mandela proclaimed that :
“It is time for new hands to lift the burdens. It is your hands now.”
This call-to-action started a worldwide movement for social change.
Ideally “Mandela Day calls on us all, every day, to make the world a better place. Each year on 18 July we look back on what has been done, and forward to what will be done,” the Nelson Mandela Foundation said.

It was a day of work but remembrance as the radio kept reminding us.
Got to hear how the celebrities honoured Tata for their 67 minutes. 🙂

I’m a big fan of Nelson Mandela , this man is a legend and you should certainly be proud! I guess the birth year is 1918
Men like him wrote and changed history! How much we need men like him nowadays 👍

I fear they broke the mould after our Tata.
So many in power abuse their positions. Zuma certainly did.
That set us back. After all his sacrifice, he handed the reins to us and some of us, continue to mess it up in huge proportions!

It’s always like that, some great men struggle and after them they ruin everything and all their sacrifices
Too bad to know that 😐
