South Africans took a natural beating this December as the weather vacillated between excessive heat, hail and a devastating storm.
Despite the massive electrical storm and partially flooded roads, spirits were high as tourists and adventurists streamed in, expectant with excitement to indulge in the oceans and resorts.
The initial heat that gave way to storms has since subsided. The cool weather (and mini downpours) were welcome for animals, dams and locals. The air is scented by the aromas of South African braais over coals and cooking potjies over steel tripod fixtures. Yes, South Africans are definitely in the holiday mode and are jealously guarding the remaining days until more braais that New Year’s Eve brings. The beaches and parks will be flooded again with holiday makers, but for now, we savour family, friends and good times under South Africa skies.
Wow. How gorgeous if this place. I have just booked a flight to travel to Sth Africa in September next year. Cape Town is def on my list and visiting friends in Pretoria.

Such beautiful pictures of a beautiful country. It’s hard for a northern hemisphere dweller to conceive of surfing this time of year! Brings back great memories. We camped at Umhlanga Rocks way back in 1970! Happy New Year, Kavitha.

I know. Kindness at the “official” levels seems to be in frighteningly short supply around the world at the moment. We live in hope. 😊🇨🇦🇿🇦

Its home, I love my SA.
I did see that and commented. Did it not save? Will go across right now. Thank you for thinking about me.

Oh no, did you already see it? So sorry! I’m trying to keep track of who to still notify since it doesn’t seem like WordPress lets everyone know if they’ve been linked somewhere. A lot of the bloggers told me they wouldn’t have known if I hadn’t alerted them.

Im glad for your escape. Ive been desperate to see the last of the festive lights in our local park but the night weather has been rainy and unfriendly. Val, every day, i get the bbq aromas and hear the strains of party music. Summer is definitely here.
Ps. My friend in Germany tells me its – 1 there!

How powerful were those videos?? I loved it but confess to being a bit scared too. Quickly put off our appliances, they go off and its an expensive business repairing them. 😔😊

That just made me a little homesick.. especially that picture of Durban at the top of your page.. 😉
